General Staff сonfirms strike on airfield in the Lipetsk oblast, russia: munitions depots hit, multiple detonations observed

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has confirmed the attack on a military airfield in Lipetsk region, russia. The announcement was made on the General Staff's Facebook page on August 9.

"Last night, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the 'Lipetsk' airfield (Lipetsk oblast, russia). During the attack, munitions depots containing guided aerial bombs and several other targets in the area of the airport were hit. Multiple sources of ignition were recorded, resulting in a strong fire and several detonations", - the statement said.

It was noted that the 'Lipetsk' airfield hosts Su-34, Su-35, and MiG-31 aircraft of the russian Aerospace Forces. The results of the attack are still being assessed.

Earlier reports indicated that munitions were detonating at the military airfield in the Lipetsk oblast following a drone attack.
