On the tenth anniversary of the destruction of the Malaysian passenger liner by russian occupiers in the skies over the Donetsk oblast, the leader of the "DNR", Denis Pushilin, once again blamed Ukraine for this crime.

"On that fateful day, July 17, 2014, we were once again convinced that the criminal Kyiv authorities are ready to go to any provocation and will stop at nothing to blame the defiant Donbas and Russia", - he said in a speech filled with blatant lies, typical of russian propaganda.

As previously reported, the European Union has repeatedly called on russia to take responsibility for this tragedy and fully cooperate in delivering justice.

In November 2022, a court in The Hague sentenced three individuals - russians Igor Girkin and Sergey Dubinsky, and Ukrainian citizen Leonid Kharchenko - to life imprisonment for their involvement in the crash of the Malaysian Boeing 777. The evidence presented during the trial left no doubt that the Buk missile system that destroyed the civilian aircraft belonged to the armed forces of the russian federation. In February 2023, it was proven that then-president of russia vladimir putin was involved in the MH17 disaster and personally approved the delivery of air defense systems to Ukraine.

The Malaysia Airlines plane, operating flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was shot down on July 17, 2014, over eastern Ukraine in an area of military conflict between the country's armed forces and the so-called "DNR militia", which was essentially part of the russian occupation forces. As a result, 298 people lost their lives.
