German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has supported the idea of allowing Ukraine to use Western weapons to strike russian territory, according to a report by the American publication Politico on May 29, citing its own informed source.

"Berlin is tiptoeing toward allowing Ukraine to strike russia with German weapons. Chancellor Olaf Scholz's office now states that Ukraine can strike 'the aggressor's territory'. The German government is cautiously moving away from its previous reservations about permitting Ukraine to target military sites in russia using donated weapons", - the report says.

It is noted that on Tuesday, May 28, Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that Ukraine could use weapons supplied by Germany "within the framework of international law", which would allow their use against an aggressor such as russia, including on russian territory.
