Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin said that Ukraine did not agree to legitimize the current leaders of the so-called "DPR/LPR". He said this at the joint press conference with Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende in Kiev on Wednesday, - informs Interfax-Ukraine.

"I want to say about impossibility of legitimizing those who were brought to power with the help of Russian aggression, Russian troops," – said the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According P.Klimkin, stabilization of the situation in Donbass can be achieved by fulfillment of the Minsk Agreements, Ukraine is committed to these documents, as evidenced by the adoption by the Ukrainian Parliament of the law on self-government in certain district of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"But these opportunities of the government are for residents of Donbass to take over the process of returning to normal life but not to legitimize those who came with the help of Russian troops and mercenaries," - said P.Klimkin.

According to him, it is necessary to achieve de-escalation in Donbass withdraw Russian troops and weapons and then move to a political settlement, including holding of free and fair local elections.
