Not only Yunkom mine: IAEA should check two more nuclear facilities in CADLO

In addition to the Yunkom mine, where the nuclear explosion took place, there are two more nuclear facilities in the Donbas, which the IAEA is to check. This was told by speaker of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of situation in the Donbas, Oleksiy Arestovych in a comment to UNN.

"There are two more nuclear facilities (besides the Yunkom mine) that are on the IAEA's list and must be periodically inspected. This is one medical facility in Luhansk and some research apparatus in Donetsk that contains radioactive materials that are subject to external control on the part of the IAEA. Now it is time for the IAEA control", - Arestovych said.

According to the speaker of the Ukrainian delegation, the IAEA considers the issue to be Ukraine's responsibility, therefore, it turned to Kyiv, which, in turn, began negotiations with the Russian Federation to conduct an inspection.

"Kravchuk personally asked Gryzlov even at the last meeting. Gryzlov said - "the "LNR" and "DNR" should decide this". As always, everything comes down to one thing. But the pressure of the IAEA and jokes with nuclear materials is a more complicated thing than it seems to the Russians. I think there will be an increased pressure in this direction, too"- the interlocutor of UNN said.

"As for the factual research: a program is now in operation, our economic subgroup is studying the impact of groundwater on the situation in the Donbas together with relevant international institutions. They should complete this research project in May, it lasts almost a year, and provide the results. Then we will have official results of what is happening there with groundwater in the Donbss, including with this mine", - he added.

As OstroV reported, occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts are on the verge of anthropogenic and environmental disaster. Ukraine turned to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with a request to conduct monitoring there, but Russia, for its part, refuses to even discuss this situation.
