Flights can be resumed from the Mariupol Airport, which was closed due to hostilities in 2014, - mayor of the city Vadym Boychenko believes, 0629 reports.

The decision remains within the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories, - the mayor said.

"A working group has been created there. One problem remains – flight safety. But I think this is not a problem. Israel's experience shows that it is possible to fly even within a 4 km zone from the buffer zone. Our distance to the buffer zone is 40 km. For that matter, the distance from the Russian border to Kharkiv is much shorter, but the airport successfully operates there", - Boychenko considers.

He is convinced that it is possible to resume flights from Mariupol. If not abroad, then within Ukraine – for sure.

"Someone has to eventually make a decision. We could open at least domestic flights to Lviv, Kyiv, Odesa and Kharkiv. I suggested including this issue in the Minsk Process and solving it there. I persuaded Reznikov (Minister of the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories, - ed.). The working group is working", - the mayor of Mariupol reported.
