Possible alternatives to the Minsk agreements should be considered if elections are not held in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass in 2020 or the process of troop withdrawal is delayed. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko said this in an interview with the Bild newspaper, a translation of which was published on the website of the Ukrainian Embassy in Germany.

"Let us be frank. If elections are not held in the occupied territories in 2020, or the process of troop withdrawal lasts too long, we need to consider possible alternatives to Minsk. It could be a peacekeeping mission. However, this does not mean that we are withdrawing from the general Minsk process", - the head of the Foreign Ministry said.

Vadym Prystaiko noted that he would not want the war in eastern Ukraine to turn into a frozen conflict, but he can "foresee it".

"I will be frank: we still need to get to the frozen conflict. Now they are shooting at us. Of course, we do not want the frozen conflict. In an ideal scenario, we want to return our lands and our people. But if this fails, we need at least to put an end to the killings", - the minister said.
