President Volodymyr Zelensky has compared the sanctions imposed on Russia with the tax "to ensure the world order". He said this during his speech at the 16th annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES), - Liga.net reports.

The president stated that diplomacy is the only way to end the war and return the territories of Ukraine. In his opinion, sanctions are "powerful and effective weapons".

"I will not tire of repeating this to our world partners who are helping us, I am very grateful. But sometimes they think about lifting the sanctions. You are losing money... Seriously? Well, I am sorry, but we are losing people", - Zelensky said.

According to him, sanctions are "taxes necessary for the world order".

“If you like, this is a tax for the sake of peace. Until it is restored, sanctions should be maintained”, - Zelensky believes.

As previously reported, on June 20, in addition to the “annual” package of Crimean sanctions against the Russian Federation, the European Council extended the EU sectoral sanctions against Russia for six months, related to the failure to implement the Minsk agreements.

Also on September 12, the EU extended sanctions against the Russian Federation for six months.
